What a novel idea! Instead of abandoning itself to the idea that establishing some broad ideal of freedom should be the ultimate aim of government, the Belgium government has opted to erect bulwarks against indisputably pervasive organizations. To think that Belgium has actually reserved some authority to guide the so-called "private" lives of its citizens! This I like.

Are women more beautiful than men?
by Vita Nuova inall things being being equal, is the feminine gender endowed with more trancendent beauty than the masculine?
before sending any stock replies like, "beauty is in the eye of the beholder," let me just say that i acknowledge some degree of relative beauty insofar as man and woman bear their own distinctive perfections.
but consider specifically which sex seems to bear more inherent grace to the end that it inspires our sense of harmony and desire to be more perfect ourselves.

Now think of a better question!
I think it's a debatable question because of the particular beauty that men are endowed with as well. The greatest painters and sculptors the world has seen can attest to this.
I don't think I could ever say that about men
I know I'm taking this quote out of context, but let it merely serve as the locus for a criticism I have against many guys who refuse to say anything in admiration of masculine beauty. These same guys will, without hesitation, recognize how ugly some other man, and the vainest of us guys will even boast that we are better looking than another guy. So, if you can make any comment on the lack of beauty, then you must have some conception of ideal form. Any guy that refuses to acknowledge this is lying to himself. -

John Kerry on Larry King Live
by Mulan inlast night john kerry and his wife, teresa heinz kerry, were on larry king live.
heinz kerry: yes, absolutely.
kerry: absolutely.. .

For those who think that Kerry shouldn't be denied communion because it is like bringing politics into the Church, then there are two solutions to accept: 1) John kerry should abstain from communion himself and not force the Church into an awkward position or 2) John Kerry should be excommunicated. Same goes for any other person whose public actions gravely contradict Church teaching. That's just how it goes when you're a scandal to the Church.

All this considered, personally I think the masculine sex has nothing comparable to this...

Crazy JW Superstitions...

ok, we all know of this uncanny word play about not saying, "you were lucky," and not saying "bless you" after someone sneezes.

GaryB,
I found your comment quite vague and wanting. Of course all religion demands that we stay inside a "box." That's religion's great insight into human nature...we are given some scope of freedom, but we do oftentimes need (and, innately want) to be governed. Think of it, by analogy, in terms of the finest examples of art. The greatest works of art are freedom of expression combined with form--not the hyper-individualism at display in modern art today that arrogantly spurns all rules and tradition. To cite an example...only when the composer Brahms had fully learned the forms, standards, and tradition of music could he say that he was most able to express himself.

What are the flaws of this forum?
by Vita Nuova inas much information, insight and entertainment this forum provides, some things about its format and design have come to annoy me.
let me start by saying that i think one of the biggest weaknesses of this forum may be the active topics option at the top.
it seems to me that some people may use this option just to see which topics are still alive.

let me restate one of my points: I thoroughly enjoy wit, humor, and interesting comments, even heated arguments. They contribute to the soul of a discussion, no doubt. I just dislike the lazy responses that shun honest, genuine thought (which, often, does not take any great amount of speculation to form).

stillajwexelder,
I did not intend to defame your character or insult you. I apologize. But nor do I think you necessarily need a "good education" to make thoughtful comments.

stillajwexelder,
What is exactly wrong with "scripted" responses? If I understand you right, what you mean by this are thoughtful responses. Maybe it's not exactly "keepin' it real" but how does a shoot-from-the-hip response make a solid point exactly? Such statements engender more confusion than clarity.
it is the exact opposite of a watchtower study
If I may politely discredit your comment--to resort to such sneaky (and irrelevant) comparisons is an example of the reactionary responses that I needed to make my point.
Regards.
